Bottle diameter and height are both important, but the relationship between them also affects sorting stability.

For a round bottle unscrambler, we normally check the bottle diameter, total height, neck diameter, bottle weight and center of gravity before confirming the machine. Very short and wide bottles or extremely tall and narrow bottles may require a different sorting disc or guide configuration.

Other commercial round bottle unscramblers also define their working range according to bottle diameter and height rather than only nominal filling volume. For example, some machines specify approximately 20–100 mm diameter and require bottle dimensions to remain within a defined height-to-diameter relationship.

For unusual cylindrical bottles, sending several actual empty samples before production is the safest way to verify stable orientation.

Yes, but lightweight containers require correct bottle loading and speed settings.

If too many empty bottles are loaded into the sorting area at once, they can press against each other and increase the risk of scuffing, deformation or unstable feeding. The sorting speed and bottle guide position should therefore be adjusted according to the actual bottle wall thickness and weight.

Commercial unscrambler designs commonly use polished contact surfaces, controlled bottle quantity and adjustable feeding systems to reduce excessive bottle pressure and surface damage. 

If the bottle has a high-gloss cosmetic finish or very thin PET walls, we recommend testing the actual production bottle during FAT rather than using a heavier substitute bottle.

A properly integrated unscrambler should not continue forcing bottles into a stopped downstream conveyor.

A downstream bottle sensor can be used to detect bottle accumulation. When the filling or capping section becomes full, the unscrambler can pause or reduce bottle feeding. Once the backup clears, feeding restarts so the downstream machine receives bottles again without unnecessary pressure.

Accutek describes this type of downstream backup sensor specifically for bottle unscramblers, while Neostarpack also uses bottle-jam detection to automatically pause bottle feeding when the conveyor is full. 

For a complete filling line, this interaction is more important than simply comparing the maximum BPM of the unscrambler.

That depends on how different the two bottles are.

For bottles with relatively similar dimensions, adjustment may mainly involve the guide rails, discharge position and operating speed. When the bottle diameter or height changes significantly, the sorting disc or other bottle-contact parts may also need to be replaced.

Industry machines designed for several round-bottle formats commonly use interchangeable sorting discs or change parts. Some designs allow the main contact components to be changed in only a few minutes. 

Therefore, if you plan to run five or ten bottle formats, it is better to send us the complete bottle-size list before machine design rather than designing around only one bottle and adding the others later.

The rated speed is not automatically the guaranteed production speed for every bottle.

Actual output depends on factors such as:

• bottle diameter and height,
• empty bottle weight,
• bottle stability,
• spacing required by the downstream machine,
• bottle accumulation on the conveyor,
• and the frequency of bottle jams or reorientation.

Your current machine is specified at approximately 10–80 bottles/min, but the final achievable speed depends on the customer’s actual container. For quotation and FAT, the more useful specification is therefore:

“Guaranteed output with your actual bottle”

rather than only:

“Maximum machine speed.”
