A spray bottle vacuum filling machine creates negative pressure inside a rigid bottle and draws the liquid into the container. The filling nozzle controls the final liquid height, while excess liquid can be returned to a recovery tank. This makes vacuum filling especially suitable for transparent perfume and body mist bottles where a consistent visible fill level is important.
Unlike a volumetric filling machine, a vacuum filler normally fills each bottle to the same height rather than dispensing exactly the same volume into every container. Minor differences in the internal capacity of glass bottles may therefore cause small variations in the actual milliliter volume.
Vacuum filling is best suited for rigid containers such as glass perfume bottles and sufficiently rigid plastic spray bottles. Round, square and flat bottles can usually be handled when the conveyor guides, bottle positioning parts and filling nozzles are customized to the actual packaging.
The bottle neck must be flat and dimensionally stable so that the filling nozzle can form an airtight seal. Thin or easily collapsible plastic bottles may deform under vacuum and should be tested before the machine design is finalized.
The machine is mainly designed for low-viscosity liquids such as perfume, cologne, body mist, fragrance mist, facial toner, alcohol-based spray and other cosmetic liquids. Vacuum filling can reduce visible differences in fill height and help limit foaming or air pockets in suitable products.
It is not normally the first choice for thick creams, gels, shampoos or high-viscosity products. The final suitability depends on viscosity, alcohol content, foaming behavior, bottle opening and the selected vacuum system, so the actual formulation should be tested before production.
A standard vacuum filling system should not automatically be described as explosion-proof. Perfumes and colognes containing a high percentage of alcohol can release flammable vapor, so the required machine configuration depends on the formulation, flash point, workshop ventilation and local hazardous-area regulations.
Where required, the line can be designed with explosion-proof electrical components, appropriate grounding and antistatic measures, pneumatic controls, vapor management and suitable motors or control enclosures. The customer should provide the alcohol percentage, safety data sheet and local certification requirements before the machine is manufactured.
Customers should provide representative bottles, spray pumps, dip tubes, collars, overcaps and the actual perfume or a safe test liquid with similar characteristics. Bottle drawings alone may not reveal variations in the bottle neck, internal capacity, pump fit or crimping dimensions.
During factory acceptance testing, the supplier should verify:
- Liquid-level consistency
- Bottle sealing during vacuum filling
- Overflow recovery and product return
- Bottle transportation and positioning
- Spray-pump and dip-tube insertion
- Crimping, press-capping or screw-capping quality
- Changeover between different bottle sizes
- Continuous running speed and alarm functions
Physical sample testing is particularly important because vacuum filling performance depends on bottle rigidity and the ability of the bottle neck to form a reliable seal with the nozzle.
