The correct filling method depends mainly on the powder’s flowability, bulk density, dust level and required dose.
A servo-driven auger system is suitable when controlled volumetric dosing and flexible recipe adjustment are required. For very light or difficult-to-flow pharmaceutical powders, the filling configuration may need additional measures such as agitation, anti-bridging design or a vacuum-assisted approach.

Other pharmaceutical machine manufacturers likewise offer both auger and vacuum-based dry-syrup filling concepts, confirming that there is no single filling principle that is optimal for every powder.
For a real project, we recommend testing the actual powder rather than selecting the filler only from its nominal gram range.
Fine dry syrup powder can remain on the bottle shoulder, neck or sealing surface during filling. That residue can interfere with the following capping operation and can make the finished bottle appear poorly controlled.
For this reason, the machine can incorporate bottle lifting, accurate neck positioning and dust collection so that the filling nozzle is better aligned with the bottle opening and airborne powder is reduced around the sealing area. These options are specifically listed for the dry syrup configuration.
For buyers, bottle-mouth cleanliness should therefore be treated as an FAT item—not merely cosmetic appearance. A continuous test should check whether powder gradually accumulates around the neck after hundreds of bottles, rather than inspecting only the first few samples.
An auger filler dispenses powder according to controlled screw rotation, so a meaningful change in bulk density or powder flow behavior can change the actual filled weight even when the machine recipe remains unchanged.
That is why each formulation—or a major raw-material change—should have its own validated filling parameters. Fine or poorly flowing powder may also need different auger geometry, agitator settings or hopper conditions. Auger fillers are widely used for difficult-flowing and dust-forming materials precisely because the dosing setup can be adapted to product behavior.
For production planning, I would recommend storing separate recipes for different formulations and checking the actual net weight whenever:
- a new powder batch has noticeably different density,

This is much more reliable than assuming that “20 screw revolutions” will always equal the same gram weight.
Both configurations are possible, but the correct choice depends on the bottle neck and your existing package design.
Screw caps use a pre-threaded closure and require controlled tightening. ROPP caps are formed onto the bottle neck during the capping process and are commonly used where a tamper-evident aluminum closure is required.

These values should not just appear in the quotation—they should be translated into agreed FAT conditions for the customer’s actual product.
